Suspension systems utilising King Pins generally follow two layouts. The most common layout, as used in independent suspension systems, the King Pin is attached to the upper and lower wishbones by horizontal bushes. The sub axle carrier with bushings top and bottom then pivots on the King Pin. The other King Pin layout differs from this in that the King Pin is held at the end of an axle beam and does not have wishbones. This method is generally employed by commercial vehicle designs.
