When jacking up a vehicle, especially in off-road conditions like sand, mud, or dirt, one common issue is the jack sinking into the ground under load. The best way to prevent this is by increasing the jack’s footprint, which is why we’ve introduced the ‘Big Boy’ Base Plate—a heavy-duty upgrade measuring an impressive 205x460mm.
Designed for maximum stability, the ‘Big Boy’ provides 940 square centimetres (145 square inches) of jacking safety, making it four times more stable than the jack alone. On soft surfaces, it distributes the load more effectively, increasing the footprint up to 10 times larger depending on the jack size. For example, a standard 6-ton bottle jack lifting 2700kg would typically exert 28kg per square centimetre on the ground, but with the ‘Big Boy,’ that pressure drops to just 2.8kg per square centimetre.
